I personally am loathe to believe that one needs 5 blades on a razor and thus purchased a simple old-fashioned single-blade razor from Boots. It was cheap (about £5) and does the job beautifully. It did, however, come with a horrible plastic handle that somewhat lessened the whole experience for me. Therefore I decided to make a nice new handle out of the old clay pipe bits. It was a little more complicated than I initially thought but after making a sort of hardwood ferrule to connect the threaded metal bit to the clay tubes it worked out.
